Things that make Inkerman unique

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 1,568, Inkerman is a small town. Median household income is $50,236, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a small town city with about 1,568 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 4 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
