Longtime lurker here, I work in real estate and Crime rate is something to consider -Interlachen sits at 147.0 per 100K. With a population of 1,659, Interlachen is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Midtown area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
