Moving to Inver Grove Heights for work -advice?

Hi all, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Rent is about $1,447/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $352,300, which seems about average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Inver Grove Heights? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Springfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.
