Anyone else feel this way? The median home value here is around $610,600, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is improving in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Moved here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to food scene but Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from LA about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
