Anyone regret moving to Iowa City?

Rent is about $1,094/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Iowa City? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in South for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Highland for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The cultural scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Old Town area are decent. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.
