Hi all, Been living here since 2023. With a population of 3,246, Iowa is a small town. Median household income is $72,868, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,070 for rent here. Poverty rate is 8.5%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for retirement and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to LA it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..
