Couple moving to Iowa Park from out of state

Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $64,340 in Iowa Park. It's a a small town city with about 6,574 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any help is appreciated. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 52, moved here 14 years ago from New York. I've lived in East and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in The Heights for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
