Is Iron Mountain still affordable?

OK so Average temperature is around 42--F, so bundle up in winter. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Thai places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Nashville about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
