Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $61,454 in Irondale. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
