What I wish I knew before living in Irondequoit

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 50,438, Irondequoit is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 50,438 people. Homes are going for about $169,000 on average. The median home value here is around $169,000, which is actually reasonable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
- Poor road conditions
- Chain restaurants dominate
Am I wrong here? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.
