The good and bad of living in Irvine

I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $129,647 in Irvine. Rent is about $2,893/month for a decent place. It's a a mid-size city city with about 308K people. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Let me know your thoughts. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
