The truth about Irvine — honest review

Been a Irvine resident for 1 years. Here's my honest take:

Pros:
- Strong job market
- Good schools
- Reasonable housing

Cons:
- Traffic can be bad during rush hour
- Winters are harsh

Overall I'd rate it 6/10. It's not perfect but I plan to stay long-term.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is check out the local Facebook groups for neighborhood info. Makes a big difference.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Pine Grove and Oakwood are perfectly safe.

The job market has been improving lately. Several logistics companies moved in recently.

I've lived in Lakewood for 12 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

As someone who moved here from Miami, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.
