Moving to Irving for work — advice?
Hey folks, Poverty rate is 8.5%, which is pretty low. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.
