Been meaning to ask this. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience?

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The weather scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much stable but now it's excellent.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from LA about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
