Hello, With a population of 3,862, Irwin is a small town. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
