Just moved to Isla Vista, any tips?

OK so It's a a small town city with about 13,717 people. Homes are going for about $1,241,700 on average. Rent is about $1,856/month for a decent place. With a population of 13,717, Isla Vista is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 1 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
