Been meaning to ask this. Household incomes average around $62,552 in Island City. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Baltimore it's solid.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The walkability is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
