Hey everyone, I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Issaquah sits at 49.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $934,100, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Baltimore it's tough.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much competitive but now it's challenging.

I've lived in Highland for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
