Top 5 things I love about Issaquah

Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $934,100, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Issaquah sits at 49.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $2,484 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Close to nature
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in engineering here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is underrated. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in South area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Came here for school and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Pittsburgh it's excellent.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much developing but now it's improving.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.
