Considering Itasca vs Portland -help me decide

First post here. Homes are going for about $375,600 on average. It's a a small town city with about 9,525 people. You can expect to pay around $1,779 for rent here. Rent is about $1,779/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is tough in most areas.

I'm a nurse and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in tech here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is tough. Definitely worth checking out..
