Been meaning to ask this. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Came here for school and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a nurse and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much wild but now it's pretty good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Westside area are underrated. Kids love it here.
