Healthcare options in Jackson?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $432,600, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $75,051, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,397 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 51, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Eastside and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The public transit situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
