Moved here from Austin about 1 years ago. I love the pace of life here. Still getting used to nightlife but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in West for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

- Active local events and festivals
- The healthcare scene is solid
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a accountant and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
