Is Jackson worth moving to in 2026?

I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $729/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $121,700 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Moved here from Baltimore about 15 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to cost of living but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
