Hey, I've been here for 19 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Jackson sits at 1,107.6 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 6.6%, which is concerning. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 14 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I'm a project manager and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Downtown area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
