Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Jackson sits at 1,107.6 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks for reading. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much wild but now it's average.

I've lived in Eastside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
