Should I move to Jackson or stay in Pittsburgh?

So, Homes are going for about $94,700 on average. Rent is about $874/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. Does this match your experience? Thanks! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a contractor and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 15 years. Moved from Seattle for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Property taxes are high. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.
