Career opportunities in Jackson, MO

Hey folks, Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in marketing here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The pet-friendliness is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 6 years. Moved from Atlanta for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Southern places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
