Is Jackson walkable?

Alright, Median household income is $53,609, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $784/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $784 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
