Best industries in Jackson right now

So, I'm a 23-year-old chef and With a population of 68,098, Jackson is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Jackson sits at 971.4 per 100K. Median household income is $51,552, which feels on the lower side for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's been a really good experience overall.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely underrated and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
