Remote worker thinking about Jackson

Hey folks, With a population of 68,098, Jackson is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 68,098 people. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Mexican places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
