Unpopular opinion about Jackson

Longtime lurker here, I work in consulting and Homes are going for about $195,000 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 68,098 people. Poverty rate is 19.6%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $1,094 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? Cheers. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
