Why I chose Jackson over bigger cities

Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from Minneapolis and Poverty rate is 19.6%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $195,000, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $1,094/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
