Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from New York about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for weather and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 40, moved here 5 years ago from LA. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Property taxes are high
3. The walkability situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to New York it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Tampa about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in West for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The dating scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in engineering here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is pretty good. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
