What's it really like living in Jacksonville Beach?

Hi all, Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Old Town area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much competitive but now it's improving.
