First post here. Poverty rate is 11.0%, which is around average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is solid in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 49, moved here 7 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Old Town and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The nightlife situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- The weather scene is tough
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Portland about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Nashville it's challenging.
