Hello, The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Seattle about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Downtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The walkability scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
