OK so I'm single, late 50s, and With a population of 962K, Jacksonville is a major city. Homes are going for about $266,100 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.
