I got a job offer in Jacksonville, FL and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a large city. A few questions:
1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1100-1700 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime as bad as the stats suggest?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?
Thanks in advance!

The job market has been improving lately. Several healthcare companies moved in recently.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Pine Grove. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 6/10.

Don't sleep on Pine Grove. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 15 years and my experience is very similar.
