We have two kids and Median household income is $54,069, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 73,507 people. With a population of 73,507, Jacksonville is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a nurse and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
