Is Jacksonville walkable?

Homes are going for about $191,700 on average. With a population of 73,507, Jacksonville is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Westside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
