Should I move to Jacksonville or stay in Phoenix?

Hi all, It's a a smaller city city with about 73,507 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Springfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The healthcare scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a project manager and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
