Carson Rivera best-worst

Worst things about Jacksonville nobody talks about

I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,268 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $191,700, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 73,507, Jacksonville is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 10.0%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Highland area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
