Should I move to Jamestown or stay in Atlanta?

Curious what people think. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Chicago it's excellent.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Austin it's underrated.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 53, moved here 9 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Pine Hills and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Eastside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- The healthcare scene is solid

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.
