Living in Janesville -the reality

Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $209,700, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $1,037/month for a decent place. With a population of 65,813, Janesville is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I work in healthcare here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is excellent. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The school system scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
