There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..
