Things Jefferson City needs to improve

First post here. I'm a 44-year-old marketing manager and Rent is about $766/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $67,205 in Jefferson City. You can expect to pay around $766 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 42,565 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Homelessness issues downtown
Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 8 years. Moved from Chicago for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited entertainment options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
