First post here. I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $1,090/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The housing market is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
