Jeffersonville is underrated, change my mind

Anyone else feel this way? The median home value here is around $208,500, which is actually reasonable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? Cheers.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 15 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for family and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..
