Alright, I'm originally from Austin and The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $257,600 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Has anyone dealt with this? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is challenging in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 41, moved here 14 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Highland and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I work in manufacturing here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The walkability is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (The Heights) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
